Ballroom Dancing:
Small Planet Dancers offers an 8-week foundation course for beginners and those who would like to improve their ballroom dancing technique. No experience is necessary.
Two instructors will be present for each class, enabling students to witness the correct technique for both the leader and follower roles. Each session will focus on two dance styles selected (with some student input) from the list below:
As part of our Summer Special, Small Planet Dancers is offering a 6-week Ballroom sampler for beginners and those who would like to improve their ballroom dancing technique. No experience is necessary.

- American Tango
- Bachata
- ChaCha
- Foxtrot
- Hustle
- Merengue
- Nightclub Two-Step
- Polka
- Rumba
- Salsa
- Samba
- East or West Coast Swing
- Waltz
The 8 week Spring 2026 session will feature Foxtrot and Swing. Basic steps and techniques will be taught for each dance style, including good “lead and follow technique”. To improve retention, each class will include a review of selected dances and steps learned during prior weeks of the session.
The 6 week SUMMER 2026 session will feature Salsa and Cha Cha. Basic steps and techniques will be taught for each dance style, including good “lead and follow technique”. To improve retention, each class will include a review of selected dances and steps learned during prior weeks of the session.
Wedding season is approaching! The Spring 2024 session will feature our unique Wedding Survival curriculum, a combination of Hustle and a collection of versatile steps that apply to many of the slower dance rhythms (Waltz, Rumba and Foxtrot). These are the rhythms most frequently heard at wedding receptions. Basic steps and techniques will be taught, including good “lead and follow technique”. To improve retention, each class will include a review of selected dances and steps learned during prior weeks of the session.
Outdoor concert season is approaching! The Late Spring 2024 session will feature our unique Big Band Bootcamp curriculum, a combination of Swing and Foxtrot. These are the rhythms most frequently heard at Big Band concerts. Basic steps and techniques will be taught, including good “lead and follow technique”. To improve retention, each class will include a review of selected dances and steps learned during prior weeks of the session.
Classes are held on THURSDAYS from 7:00 until 8:00 PM, at 16 Union Ave, Suite 3-K, Westfield, MA, 01085.
$80 per person covers a single class for the 8 week session. For $100 you may attend unlimited Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes during the 8 week session. There is plenty of free parking beside the building.
During the SPECIAL 6 week SUMMER session, $60 per person covers unlimited attendance to all Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes offered at the Small Planet Dancers studio. The studio is air conditioned, and there is plenty of free parking beside the building.
As an added benefit, the instructors (Josephine and Jeff) periodically organize group outings to local events which they believe will offer their students an opportunity to practice their dance skills in a constructive social environment.
